There are a range of different risks associated with the work that we do. As a result, we have various processes in place to minimize these risks. We have categorized risk in the following three ways:

Field Partner Level

We work with Field Partners when distributing and managing loans. We have an extensive process in place to ensure that we work with only excellent Field Partners with a great track record.

  • All of UYDO’s Field Partners are members of the Youth Business International Network (YBI). In order to become a member of YBIs network, each Field Partner needs to go through an extensive assessment process

  • UYDO receives financial reports from the Field Partner on a regular basis where we analyze the data to ensure transparency

  • Each Field Partner provides UYDO with a report on a monthly basis

  • UYDO visits its Field Partners on a regular basis and meets the entrepreneurs to make sure the services our Field Partners provide are of high quality and in line with the needs of the young entrepreneurs on the ground

Entrepreneur Level

We want to make sure that we only work with young entrepreneurs with viable business ideas. This is why we work with local Field Partners as they know their local environment better than we do.

  • Each entrepreneur needs to produce a business plan describing their business, what they do, and how they plan to make money

  • Each entrepreneur is then screened by our Field Partner where they assess the viability of the business, the market for the type of business, and the entrepreneur him/herself

  • Each entrepreneur also goes through a training program developed by our Field Partners teaching business skills and financial literacy

  • Each successful entrepreneur then gets teamed up with a local mentor who has years of experience running a business

  • The entrepreneurs are followed up by the Field Partner either on a weekly or monthly basis to ensure the success of the business and repayment

Country Level

We work continuously to ensure that we have frameworks in place that minimize the risk at a country level; the biggest risks by far being exchange rates, natural disasters, and changes in government policies.

UYDO minimizes the cost of transferring funds back and forth by having funds available in the countries that we operate in

UYDO assesses exchange risk on a monthly basis and adjusts loan amounts and investments according to the financial situation of the country the investment is in
